San Francisco and California
San Francisco
Lombard Street...
Someday I'm going to own a home on Lombard Street. The views as well as the aesthetics of the street, the neighborhood, and many of the homes in it make this my favorite part of San Francisco. The view of the Bay Bridge and Coit Tower lit up at night from the top of the street is classic. And then there's my favorite bridge in the world...
...The Golden Gate
and south on Hwy One (Pacific Coast Highway)...
My favorite highway in the United States, with the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado (550, Durango to Silverton) coming in a close second. The dramatic vistas, high hills and cliffs, romantic bridges, coves, & hidden beaches are just too much for this romantic to resist. One of my favorite stops along the route is Carmel, but the best is Big Sur.
As I said, my absolute favorite drive in the US, maybe the world, and a great place to eat and/or spend the night.
Palos Verdes Estates
I discovered this place when a friend moved here.Twenty years later, he's not going anywhere.
The beauty, the terra cotta tiled roofs, overall Spanish Mediterranean themes and the natural beauty of blue ocean juxtaposed against green hills is bedazzling.
Carlsbad

- My favorite place to stay when in Southern California. Ocean Palms Beach Resort in Carlsbad. It's a great walking beach, and seldom overly crowded. The hotel is quaint and the staff very friendly, personally interested in you. Your hosts Terry and Lindsey Blue look forward to taking good care of you.
