Hymns of Rage
Note: These poems were written during my angry exodus phase when I had just left the ministry, the Church, and wrote an essay entitled, "Raped by the Church," and another, "Jesus was Wrong." I had ceremoniously burned my ordination papers and my baptismal certificate with a friend as a witness, and declared myself "unbaptized." Had I found a T-shirt or a poster with any or all of these images on it, I would have owned it proudly. It is the kind of T-shit Ruth Richards wears in
Naked in Church. I feature these poems here, not because I still feel or believe what is expressed but because it has literary merit (in my humble opinion) and because it helps you appreciate where I am today by seeing where I've been, religiously.
